We all know the story of Isa (alaihis Salam).
The story of his birth. The miraculous birth is what it is called. The story of how he was saved by Allah and how the world misused his name to set him as a partner to Allah.
The story of his mother (may Allah have mercy upon her and her family) who was a pure soul.
But do you know the story of Isa (alaihis Salam)'s grandmother (May Allah be pleased with her). She was a woman from the family of Imran. They were believers of Allah.
The Quran speaks of her story and says that she prayed to Allah and dedicated the baby growing in her womb to the worship of Allah and service of spreading his religion.
She assumed that she was going to have a baby boy. But when she gave birth , it turned out to be a a girl.
If this happened to someone else , they would have become disappointed. But Isa (alaihis Salam)'s grandmother was a believer. A believer not only believes but also submits to the will of Allah.
So she prayed to Allah even though she never understood why she had given birth to a girl.
Do you know who that girl grows up to be? It is Mariam ( May Allah have mercy on her)
She grew up in the place of worship of Allah . Zakriya (May Allah be have mercy upon him) was always shocked by something with regard to her.
Everytime he enters the place, she is already provided food. How? It is said she was fed by food provided by Angels. She had dedicated herself to worshipping Allah. He blessed her with the miraculous birth of Isa (alaihis Salam)
But this story is so beautiful because Allah did not answer the prayer of Isa (alaihis Salam)'s grandmother immediately. He first blessed her with a daughter who would become a symbol of purity and then a grandson who would be a sign of miracle - a prophet of Allah.
By not answering the prayer , Allah gave her two gifts when the time seemed right to Allah. It was a test for her. When she was not given what she wanted , she did not complain or become angry with her Creator. She did not stop praying to him or despair in his mercy. Instead she accepted his will. What was the reward for it ?Double acceptance of the prayer, not to mention the gifts of the hereafter.
Allah may not give what you ask to test if you will still accept what he gives. Being patient and firm in your faith like the story of this wonderful woman is something we should all rememeber.
